It’s Confidential

Several years ago when I was starting out in the events industry I read a book by a very well known magazine editor. Still today there are things from that book which I apply to my work. Recently I was made aware of a book by PR bombshell Roxy Jacenko that looks to be just as inspiring and influential.

You my have heard of Roxy, if not then you would of least heard of her firm, Sweaty Betty PR, which she started at only 24 years of age. With just under a decade of experience under her designer belt, Roxy is lifting the lid on the glamorous world of fashion and celebrity in a fast paced reality novel, ‘Strictly Confidential’.

Meet Jasmine Lewis – aka Jazzy Lou – a smart, young publicist trying to work her way up from the bottom in Sydney’s hottest PR company.

Jasmine’s done the coffee runs, the dry-cleaning pick-ups, the 5am starts, the 11pm finishes. But still, her evil boss Diane Wildenstein is never happy.

So when she finds herself summoned to Diane’s office early one morning, she knows something’s got to give. Luckily for Jasmine, faith lends a hand and helps her escape from the evil Diane to launch a fabulous new career as the founder of Queen Bee PR.

This should be a dream come true, right? Or is it the start of a whole new world of nightmares? And just how far should a publicist have to go for her celebrity client? With a cast of characters that will seem eerily familiar to readers of gossip magazines and the social pages.

Whether your wondering what really goes on the other side of the red carpet in the world of PR or if your just looking for a Summer read. This book might just be the ticket, with a dash of romance, clashes with frenemies, A-list mishaps and plenty of designer labels, ‘Strictly Confidential’ promises to be more satisfying than a fashion party goodie bag.

‘Strictly Confidential’ is available for pre-order through www.sweatybettypr.com/book.  From 1 January it will be at all good book stores and selected David Jones stores.
