When I’m not painting or working, you can usually find me out in my studio making resin jewellery. This means I go to a LOT of art & design markets. Last weekend I was in Adelaide for the bi-annual Bowerbird Bazaar.
Many artists and designers make the trek across from Melbourne or Sydney for the event – some even come all the way from Tasmania: illustrator Beth-Emily, jeweler Megan Perkins, and amazing paper crafters Hideyo to name a few.
I was looking after my stall for most of the 3-day event, but managed to sneak out to take a few quick photos to share with you all. I also did a quick spot of shopping that consisted of three Beth-Emily prints, some amazing clothes by Monolog, and a tie from my lovely stall neighbours and (sometimes stall minders – thanks!) Aya Kawa.
Dawn Tan was also sweet enough to do a trade with me, where I scored a couple of her cute tote bags in return for a couple of bangles.
Gretel girl were more organised than most of us and were set-up well before opening!
One of the best set-ups at the market – Monolog. Bike riders take note: Monolog have crafted a skirt that you can quickly transform into a pair of shorts! Sweet!
My favourite stall set-up was from fellow Melbourne crafters, Harvest.
It was an exhausting three-day event, and I didn’t think I would be home in time to share it with you all so quickly (note to self: do not fly Qantas again), but it was a great experience and my third time at the market.
If you’re in Adelaide and you missed out on the Bowerbird Bazaar, mark it in your diary for next year (March 23 to 25, 2012)!
Now it’s time for me to get back into the studio to prepare for Markit@Fed Square, Sunday November 27, 10am – 5pm.
